With October just around the corner and Fall in NYC, we are going to soon be greeted with cooler weather, changing leaf colors, pumpkin spice drinks, and sweater weather. Among the change in scenery will be a host of events that celebrate autumn and Halloween festivities across the five boroughs. Below is a list of several examples of places that families and friends can visit over the next several weeks leading up to Halloween in NYC 2024.
New York's Village Halloween Parade
On Halloween evening, families, locals, and tourists can watch the free public event, which (for participants in costume only) begins at Canal Street and 6th Avenue and marches up north to 6th Avenue and West 15th Street, passing through Hudson Square and the West Village. Onlookers can see the parade from both sides of 6th Avenue from King Street to West 15th Street. The parade starts at 7pm and ends around 11pm. The streets are the most crowded between Bleecker and West 14th Streets, so plan accordingly your arrival time, checking subway and bus schedules for planned service changes, and where to stand on the sidewalks. Special VIP tickets can be purchased on the main website for the parade.
Pumpkin Picking within the five NYC boroughs
OktoberFest on Stone Street in Manhattan's Financial District
Every Saturday on the 21st and 28th, and October 5, 12, 19 and 26 from noon to 11pm.
Jimmy Fallon's Tonightmares
An all-new haunted maze experience from the late night host with 10 terrifying rooms in Rockefeller Center in the heart of Manhattan. Not recommended for children under the age of 14, and no costumes or masks are allowed by ticket holders. The spooky event is one of the best ways to celebrate Halloween and fall in NYC and currently runs from September 20 through October 31. The maze lasts for about ten minutes and is ADA compliant, with tickets starting at $36.90. The venue is on the Rink level at 630 5th Avenue, between 50th and 51st Streets in Atlas court off of 5th Avenue. More information can be found on the main website.
